The impeller is the single most critical component in any centrifugal pump, responsible for converting the rotational energy of the drive motor into the kinetic energy and pressure rise that drives fluid through the system. The geometry, dimensional accuracy and material quality of the impeller determine the hydraulic efficiency, flow characteristics, head development and service life of the pump.

The selection between closed, semi open and open impeller types is determined by the fluid being handled, the solid content of the process stream and the hydraulic performance requirements of the application.

Closed impellers, which have front and rear shrouds enclosing the vanes, provide the highest hydraulic efficiency and are used for clean fluid service where maximum performance is required. Semi open impellers, with a rear shroud and open front face, are used for fluids containing soft solids or fibrous material where the open front face prevents blockage. Open impellers, with no shrouds, are used for heavily solid laden slurries where a fully enclosed impeller would block and for duties where easy inspection and cleaning of the impeller is required.

All impellers are precision manufactured to the dimensional tolerances required for correct running clearance in the pump casing, balanced to the specified standard to eliminate vibration and finished to the surface quality required for the intended service. Custom impellers manufactured to customer supplied drawings and specifications are a core part of our service.

The pump shaft transmits drive torque from the motor to the impeller while supporting the mechanical loads generated by hydraulic forces, bearing reactions and seal friction throughout the full operating range of the pump. Shaft design and material selection are critical to pump reliability, as shaft failure or excessive deflection under load results in seal damage, bearing wear and impeller running clearance problems that progressively degrade pump performance and ultimately lead to unplanned shutdown.

Our pump shafts are manufactured from premium quality materials including carbon steel, stainless steel grades SS304 and SS316, duplex stainless steel and other alloy steels as required by the service conditions of the pump.

Each shaft is machined to dimensional tolerances that ensure correct bearing fit, correct impeller mounting, correct seal housing alignment and the correct running clearances throughout the pump assembly. Shafts are inspected for straightness, dimensional accuracy and surface finish before dispatch to confirm that they will perform correctly in service without inducing vibration or misalignment in the assembled pump.

Our shaft manufacturing capability covers replacement shafts for our own pump range as well as custom shafts manufactured to client drawings for third party pump equipment, providing a flexible supply source for maintenance teams requiring non standard shaft components.

The pump sleeve is a replaceable cylindrical liner fitted over the pump shaft in the region where the shaft passes through the stuffing box or seal housing. The purpose of the pump sleeve is to protect the shaft from direct contact with the pumped fluid, gland packing or mechanical seal components, preventing the shaft from being damaged by corrosion, erosion or mechanical wear in this critical region.

By fitting a correctly specified pump sleeve over the shaft, the shaft material can be selected for mechanical strength and machinability rather than for chemical resistance to the pumped fluid. When the sleeve eventually shows wear or corrosion damage from service exposure, it can be replaced at a fraction of the cost of replacing the complete shaft, making sleeve replacement the economical maintenance solution for pumps operating in aggressive chemical or abrasive service.
